This 2025 Cross Country Championship is open to all Yr 3-6 Western Australian school students.Â
This event is NOT a trial event for the 2025 WA State Team
The event will be nomination by year group and gender for Yr 3, Yr 4, Yr 5 and Yr 6 students.
All events (Year 3 – Year 6) will be awarded championship team points.Â
Multi Class Athletes – may compete over the distances provided. To enter as a multi class athlete, complete the Individual Nomination form ensuring your classification and required distances are listed.

Your nomination is a confirmation that you will comply with the protocols put in place to keep both school students and adults as safe as possible at this event.
NOMINATION PROCESS
School Team Nomination
- Step 1. Nominate your school via the SCHOOL TEAMS button above by Thursday, May 22.
- Step 2. Download the SCHOOL TEAM LIST TEMPLATE and save it to your computer. Enter your student names in the required cells then save.Â
- Step 3. Email this document to [email protected] by Wednesday 21 May.
- Step 4. If you have changes or additions simply email the School Sport WA office to inform them of any alterations. Â
-  Schools must not make any competitor number changes as this WILL affect the computerised results system.
- Cost is $12 per student – Payment at check out can be at nomination by credit card OR SSWA will invoice schools after the event.Â
Individual Nomination
This nomination is for those students whose school WILL NOT be entering a team. You are nominating yourself.
This event is NOT a trial for the WA state team. For the State Team trial please see details for the June 7 event on the INTERSTATE page.
- Step 1. Nominate the student via the INDIVIDUALS button. Please ensure that your school principal is aware of this entry.
- A separate nomination for a second student is required.
- To do this, after you have filled in the details for child #1 and clicked ADD TO CART, a page summary will appear. Fill in child # 2 details on that page and click ADD TO CART again. VIEW CART and your nomination will update then proceed to check out.
- Cost is $12 per student – payable at check out by credit card.Â
- PLEASE NOTE: Individuals cannot be invoiced by SSWA, this option is only available to school teams.

Entry Rules
Schools may enter unlimited runners in each event.
Each school’s team score is based on the finishing place of its first 4 runners to complete the race.Â
Teams that do NOT have the required 4 finishers to make up a team score, will be allocated maximum finish points for each runner missing.
Schools are encouraged to enter a team in every gender and year group.
Schools are not permitted to enter students in multiple events, nor are they permitted to enter a child in an event that is not his/her current year group.
General Information
- Allocated Race timing BIBS will be issued to all competitors on the day.
- Schools and individuals must collect these from the registration desk by 9.30am and ensure that they are issued to the correct runners.Â
- Race BIBS must be pinned to the chest area of the runner’s shirt. Please use all 4 safety pins provided with each bib.
- BIBS must be visible on the chest as the runner crosses the finish line.
- Runners must provide their own water bottles.
- Teams can check their competitor numbers on the information posted near the recording area.Â
- Identify where the marshalling area is, well before the race starts. All runners need to be at the marshalling area as designated in the event booklet.
- Schools are responsible for cleaning up their own area before departure. Additional bins will be provided.
- There is an age group team event, so each gender/age group is eligible to win a shield for their particular year group.

The Primary Schools Cross Country Championship is excited to be located at a new venue in 2025, with a revamped course and a new addition to the event schedule.

State Team Selection
In 2025, the National School Sport Australia Cross Country Championship will be held in August in Queensland.
WA team selection is as follows:
Students 10-12 years of age (Born 2013, 2014, 2015)
Selection Trial – Saturday 7 June 2025
Students DO NOT need to compete in the Primary or Secondary Schools Cross Country events on Wednesday and Thursday, May 28 and 29.
PLEASE NOTE:
Primary Championship (Wed May 28) – Students will run in Year Groups (ie. Year 3 Race, Year 4 Race, Year 5 Race and Year 6 Race with genders also separate).
State Selection Race (Sat June 7) – races will be in age groups according to the year they are born NOT the year they are in at school. For example, students born in 2013 (which includes some Year 6s and some Year 7s) will race together in the 12 years age division.
