Please read all information prior to nominating for trials below
Entry into the SSWA State Cross Country team is via one of two trials.
- Registration for each trial must be completed separately.
- Registration for Trial 2 will open on Friday, May 17th.

TRIAL 1 is contested at the Secondary Cross Country Championships – Thursday, May 16, 2024
Please refer to the tab below (Trial 1) for trial registration details specific to Trial 1.
TRIAL 2 is contested as an SSWA ‘Interstate Selection Specific Race’ only – Sunday, June 9, 2024
Please refer to the tab below (Trial 2) for trial registration details specific to Trial 2.
No cost for interstate nomination.
TRIAL 1 – Secondary Cross Country Event
$12.00 per person
TRIAL 2 – SSWA Interstate Selection Specific Race
$5.00 per person
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Please be advised that if selected:
The cost of a HOME CHAMPIONSHIP will be approximately $800 – $1500 depending on the accommodation option.
The cost of an AWAY CHAMPIONSHIP will be between $2000 – $2700 dependent on venue and time on tour.
Travel Model
The School Sport WA preferred travel model for Cross Country is for students to travel and accommodate with a parent/guardian.
Any variation to this model will be communicated at the parent information meeting.
TRIAL #1:
Secondary Cross Country Championships
Thursday 16 May 2024
UWA Sports Park (McGillivray Reserve)
Please note, this is a schools event whereby secondary schools from around the state enter teams of runners from Year 7 to Year 12.
If your school is NOT entering a team, then you are welcome to enter as an individual.
Individual entries are usually those students who are participating solely to gain selection for the state team, and may be aged from 10 – 19 years.
For INDIVUAL COMPETITORS ONLY
If you are attending the championships and racing as an individual (ie. your school is NOT bringing a team) then please register using the following form on the Secondary Cross Country page.
INDIVIDUAL COMPETITORS do not need to complete an Interstate Nomination Form below.
For SCHOOL TEAM COMPETITORS ONLY
Athletes who are attending and competing with their school team on the day, and would like to be considered for the State Team are required to scroll to the bottom of this page and register via the black “TRIAL 1” button.

TRIAL #2:
SSWA ‘Interstate Selection Specific Race’
Sunday, June 9, 2024
Mawson Reserve, Hillarys (TBC)
Trial 2 is ONLY for those students who have not yet been selected into the team. Students who placed, and were consequently selected, into the team via Trial 1, are asked NOT to race in Trial 2.
Please note, there are NO school teams involved in this event. This is an INDIVIDUALS ONLY event, set up specifically as an interstate selection race.
Students intending on running in this event MUST register, regardless of whether or not you participated in Trial 1.

Trial #2:
Mawson Park, Hillarys, off Marmion Avenue.

Training:
Venue 1 – Perry Lakes or Alderbury Reserve, Floreat
Venue 2 – Kings Park, Zamia Cafe
National Championships:
Yarra Glen, Victoria
Once the final team has been selected (including reserves) a training schedule will be released.
Training sessions will be held weekly on Sunday mornings at 8am
Training will usually conclude approx 9.30am
Training will vary between the two venues (Alderbury Reserve and Kings Park)
Students will be selected according to their age as of December 31.
Age divisions are offered from 10 – 18+
Please read the Selection Policy below for specific details regarding selection and trials, etc.
Students who selected into the team via Trial 1 will NOT be permitted to race in Trial 2.
