This Cross Country competition is open to all Government and Non-Government school students.
As well as an inter-school competition, it also provides an opportunity for individual students whose schools do not enter a team, to compete.
SCHOOL TEAMS
Schools will need to nominate their entry via the SCHOOL TEAMS TAB (above) and will then have until the week prior to the event to submit names and birthdates, etc of their team.Â

For students participating WITHOUT their school attending, please nominate via the INDIVIDUALS TAB (above).
This event is the platform for selection into the SSWA Interstate Cross Country team which competes in the School Sport Australia Cross Country Championships in term three (3) of the year.
Multi Class Athletes – may compete over the distances provided. To enter as a multi class athlete, complete the Individual Nomination form ensuring your classification and required distances are listed. Multi class athletes are eligible for selection to the state team.

Entry Rules
Students to be entered into age divisions according to their year of birth.
Schools may nominate unlimited entries in each age division.
The first 3 students to complete the race in each age division will form the score for that school.
Schools are encouraged to enter a team in every gender and every age division.
Should a school NOT have a total of 3 runners finish a race, then the school will receive the maximum allocated points for each of the missing runners.Â
General Information
- Allocated race timing BIBS will be issued to all competitors on the day. The registration desk will be open from 7.45am. Schools must collect these from the registration desk by 9.15am and ensure that they are issued to the correct runners.
- Individual entrants can collect their race BIB up to 40 minutes prior to the start of their race.
- Race BIBS must be pinned to the chest area of the runner’s shirt. Please bring and use 4 safety pins per competitor.
- BIBS must be visible on the chest as the runner crosses the finish line.
- For the safe and efficient running of this event, schools may be required to provide officials who must be present at the 9.30am officials’ briefing. The SSWA office will notify schools if they are needed to provide event officials.
- All students must provide their own water. It is recommended for schools to also provide water for their students at a central location.
- Teams can check their competitor numbers on the information posted near the recording area. This should be done as early as possible.
- Identify where the marshalling area is, well before race starts.
- Schools are responsible for cleaning up their own area before departure. Additional bins will be provided.
- All races will start on time so students must be at the marshalling area at the time indicated in the Event Booklet.
- Each age division (male and female) is eligible to win a shield for their particular event.
- NEW IN 2025, THE CHAMPIONS SCHOOL RELAY, will see schools enter a representative from each age division in a shorter, relay style event. Please read the rules for this event in the Event Booklet.
The registration desk will be open from 7:45am for collection of race BIBS.
Please pay online at the time of nomination.
Please arrive at least an hour before your race starts to register and collect timing BIB.

STATE TEAM SELECTION
The SECONDARY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP will double as the SSWA State Team trial for 13-19 years age divisions only.
State team officials will be in attendance at the event to monitor age divisions and address prospective team members.Â
All students who nominate as individuals will be considered for state selection unless SSWA is notified otherwise.
All Students who compete as part of their SCHOOL TEAM, you are NOT required to complete any additional forms. Officials will be in touch with ALL successful athletes immediately after the event.Â
Event Photos will be taken by a designated Photographer at the event.
The SSWA photographer will be clearly identified.
Sports Centre will be at the event selling event merchandise. Be sure to visit the stall and check out what’s trending.
