The secondary schools cricket competitions are open to all year 10 – 12 school aged children and are conducted by the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) together with the Western Australian Schools Cricket Council (WASCC). The Kim Hughes Shield is the premier schools cricket competition in WA.
The competition’s purpose is to provide WA secondary school students with an opportunity to participate in formats of cricket suited to all levels of ability. It is also designed to encourage schools to foster in their student’s ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty and strength of application, as well as identify and consolidate a sense of loyalty to the school and a strong spirit for players, students, staff, parents and the general community.
The WACA conducts the following secondary school competitions:-
- Kim Hughes Shield (Top Tier – Limited Overs Competition) – Years 10-12
- Graeme Wood Shield (Second Tier – T20 Competition) – Years 10-12
- Perth Scorchers Girls School Competition (Modified Junior Formats) – Years 7-10
- Perth Scorchers Girls School Cricket Gala Day (Modified Junior Formats) – Years 7-10
Registrations open for the Kim Hughes Shield, Graeme Wood Shield and Perth Scorchers Girls School Cricket Competition – Week 1 of Term 3. Â
Registrations open on 19 July and close on 20th August
Registrations open for the Perth Scorchers Girls School Cricket Gala Day – Week 1 of Term 4.
