School Sport Australia [SSA] has just announced the cancellation of all National Championships for 2021. This decision was based on the uncertainty around students and staff being permitted to travel to SSA Championships. SSA is hopeful of a resumption of competition in 2022.
School Sport WA [SSWA] Management Committee has decided to ask all volunteer team officials to continue to select State Teams for 2021 and provide local opportunities for our teams. State Team trials will continue as published on the SSWA website. Details of the experiences that will be provided for selected teams will be finalised over the next few weeks and also published on the SSWA website.

Rugby WA has a brand-new inclusive interschools competition to support and nurture boys and girls of all skill sets to build confidence in contact and non-contact formats. With the incentive to grow and develop a solid schools foundation and pathway to expand Rugby Union in Western Australia.
The School Sport WA Secondary Cross Country date has been changed
SSWA realises that some students who nominate for the state team may not be able to compete due to attending the National Track & Field Championships in April. The number of these students impacted would be nowhere near to the number impacted by the June date. Therefore the decision to return to the earlier date was taken.
SSWA will allow students who are not able to compete in this April event due to extenuating circumstances, to submit an official time from another event. Please contact the SSWA office to discuss this, close to the date if it happens that you cannot compete on April 29th.
Anyone who has already nominated for this event has been contacted via email with this update.
Registration
In the inaugural year the registration process will be conducted in two parts. This will enable the Games’ Committee to ascertain interest in sports and allow the Service Providers to develop budgets.
Step 1 – Individuals will be able to register for the games and express interest in their chosen activities. [Complete in Term 1]
Step 2 – Selection and payment for sporting and social activities [Complete throughout term 2 and mid-term 3.]
Interstate travel permitting, these teams will compete at the School Sport Australia Championships in the second half of the year.
If selected teams are unable to travel interstate due to COVID-19 restrictions, team officials will explore other competitive opportunities for our teams within the WA state borders.
For more information regarding selection trials visit the sport pages under the interstate menu above.
