This initiative aims to enhance their skills, encouraging them to actively participate in regular club rugby and engage with the Western Force team. It serves as a bridge between school-level participation and broader community involvement in the sport, fostering a seamless pathway for young enthusiasts to develop and enjoy rugby at both the grassroots and professional levels.
The “Get into Rugby” program is an integral component of the Australian government’s Sporting Schools initiative. This program allocates funding to schools, enabling students to explore different sports without incurring any costs to the school. By participating in the Get into Rugby program, students to have the opportunity to try and engage in rugby, promoting physical activity and sports participation without financial burdens on the educational institutions. Rugby WA Gala Days provide an excellent one-day opportunity for boys and girls to receive an introduction to Rugby Union in a welcoming and inclusive environment. The event caters to both contact and non-contact formats, ensuring that participants can engage with the sport in a manner that suits their preferences. This initiative not only fosters the growth of rugby but also emphasizes the importance of inclusivity, creating a positive and supportive atmosphere for individuals to explore and enjoy the sport.
We aim to get as many schools as possible participating with in our New “TRI TAG” non-contact version of rugby WA.
Why Tri Tag?
We believe there needs to be an alternative to contact rugby for:
Parents and schools concerned about student’s head knocks or injury.
Players that don’t like contact.
We also believe there needs to be a game that allows participants to choose when and if they play contact rugby, without missing out on the appropriate knowledge and skill development should they eventually do so.
In summary the game aims to provide an entry point for, and appeal to, regardless of age, gender, or race.
The more serious or aspirational participant seeking rugby knowledge and skill development should they wish to transition to contact rugby at some point, and the social participant seeking a fun, social, inclusive game that brings people and communities together.
